Clinicians must register with the Black Dog Institute prior to referring a patient for a MAP assessment.  General practitioners, psychologists and psychiatrists in Australia are eligible for registration.

Once registered, an information pack will be sent to each clinician, and include a patient referral sheet with that clinician’s unique access code.

To be appropriate for referral, patients must:

  • Be 18 years or over
  • Have suffered an episode of depression, diagnosed or otherwise.
  • Be managed by a registered MAP referrer
  • Be able to speak and write English or have someone who can help them
  • Be able to concentrate for an hour
  • Have very basic computer skills
  • Have access to the internet.
