The following information sheets have been written specifically for clinicians and provide information on the Black Dog Institute’s model of depression and mood disorders.
This model aims to demonstrate the interaction between the various factors that are important in the onset of an episode of depression and is also useful in determining how long a depressive episode might persist.

Research at the Institute has allowed a 'stuctural and functional model' to be developed for a more rational approach to choice of antidepressant drugs of the principal depressive classes.
