One in five Australians will experience an episode of mental illness in one year, the most common being some form of anxiety and depressive disorder. The impact of this on the Australian workforce is profound. We know that six million working days a year are lost to depression which translates to a financial cost of $12.6 billion a year through absenteeism, lost productivity and job turnover.
The Black Dog Institute can assist workplaces in developing healthy, happy workplace environments by increasing awareness to mood disorders, building skills in resilience, stress management and in developing skills to manage individuals with a mood disorder. Our Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing Programs are based on the findings of over 20 years of research done at the Black Dog Institute, also drawing on current evidence-based research on positive psychology, mindfulness and resilience.
