Our programs have been developed as a series of 1-hr presentations, 3-hr and full day workshops.

For All Staff

The 1 hour presentations are intended for all staff and are considered to be introductory presentations. The 3 hour and full day workshops are interactive and designed to provide more in-depth coverage of the topic, incorporating varyious exercises and role plays and allowing time for discussion. Through real workplace scenarios, participants gain an increased understanding of common mental health problems in the workplace, the impact of stress on mental health, and learn stress management and resilience building skills.

For Managers, Team Leaders, Human Resource Staff

HR managers, line managers and front line managers all play an important role in identifying and supporting team members who may be experiencing a mental health problem. Many mangers feel that they lack skills and knowledge to adequately manage individuals with a mental health problem in the workplace. Early identification of such problems, combined with suitable support and supervision, assists individuals to remain at work while seeking treatment.  These workshops focus on a managers perspective and provide managers with the knowledge and skills to understand common mental health problems in the workplace and the skills to effectively manage staff.

This presentation is aimed at time poor executives who wish to gain an overview of current, relevant research in this area. The discussion is led by a senior Black Dog Institute clinician with considerable clinical and teaching experience and in-depth knowledge about the impact mental health problems have on a workplace. The presentation can be tailored to assist HR Executives in making a business case for the implementation of a Mental Health and Wellbeing Program in their workplace or who are seeking to raise the profile of such existing programs and to increase skills and awareness of mental health problems in the workplace in their senior management/executive team.

For organisations wishing to implement a large scale program to multiple groups of staff the content of these programs can be tailored specifically to that organisation. Such tailoring of content is normally done through a consultation process and fees for such programs reflect the degree of development work and adaption required. Such adaptations can vary from just including details about existing wellbeing programs/EAP through to more extensive creation of personalised case vignettes, role plays and other learning tools directed to meet the specific needs of the organisation.
