SEPTEMBER

September-November
Braidwood, NSW - Melbourne, VIC

Edward Fernon

Following the Legend of Archer

In August 2012, Sydney University student Edward Fernon will represent Australia at the London Olympics in the Modern Pentathlon, a competition consisting of horse riding, running, shooting, fencing & swimming. On his return this experienced horseman takes up his next challenge ‐to ride his horse from Braidwood NSW to Melbourne.

Legend has it that the inaugural Melbourne Cup winner Archer was ridden from Nowra to Melbourne back in 1861 although newspaper articles now suggest that this is highly unlikely. Ed’s course will take him from Archer’s birth place at Jembaicumbene just outside of Braidwood to meet up with the National Bicentennial Trail at Yarralumla and then on to Melbourne in time for the 2012 Melbourne Cup on 6th November.

This is a distance in excess of 1,000 kilometres.

WHY? He is driven to do this because a close family member has suffered from depression over the last ten years. Following the Legend of Archer will raise funds for the Black Dog Institute.

Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport

Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival 2012

Thank you for being involved in the 30th anniversary Noosa Triathlon!

Arising from very humble beginnings in 1983, USM EVENTS has developed the triathlon into a first class international multi sport and entertainment event. Every year national and international competitors and spectators flock to Queensland's shores to witness not only Noosa's most prominent annual festival, but also Australia's largest triathlon event and the largest Multi Sport Festival of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

The festival raised nearly $170,000 for charity in 2011 and hopes to exceed this amount through the 2012 event! Help break the record and raise memorable funds for official event charities or for one close to your heart.

As the world’s second largest Olympic Distance Triathlon, and the largest in Australia, the Noosa Triathlon has become an event stepped in rich history and uniqueness not matched anywhere in the world. The festival is brought together with an irresistible mix of sport and entertainment coupled with, sun and surf in one of Australia’s most popular destinations – Noosa. It has been Australia’s most popular triathlon for 29 years and sells out within hours of entries opening, drawing 8,500 competitors to the Olympic-distance (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) challenge that also lures our top professionals.

If you think it’s all about triathlon, you’d be absolutely wrong. There’s a weeklong festival of swimming, cycling, running, triathlon events for everyone from 7 – 80+, golf tournament (celebrity and corporate), Queensland’s largest sport and lifestyle expo - the SEVEN Noosa Sport and Lifestyle Expo, corporate/VIP facilities, and serious after Party you’ll also need to train for.
