Photo Competition

"This photograph represents the confrontation of what is seemingly negative, with something positive, vibrant and hopeful. The girl jumping through the puddle is a metaphor for resilience and fighting back. When tackled with something ostensibly pessimistic, she is not afraid to jump into the puddle, confront the gloomy, watery obstacle in front of her and turn it into something blithe and, as much as friends and medications can help, it comes down to the individual using resilience, strength and attitude to make that decision to 'jump'."

"It is very easy in a world driven by information to get caught up in words.  Images resonate within one's heart in a way that words never can and that is why I wanted to submit this photograph.

This photo represents my interpretation of the theme light at the end of the tunnel.  Sunset is a time that always seems calm to me, and it is this calmness that brings clarity and a time that I get to reflect on the things that really matter.

It is at sunset that I am reminded that hope exists, that light comes again in the morning even if it disappears for the night."

"The bridge represents a path. There is a lonely figure on a path. The bridge is a journey to get to the other side; it is an uphill journey over the top to get to the light over the crest. The path is lit! Once he gets over the crest it will be easier downhill to better things.

The empty roadways, one coming, one going, he is caught in the centre of these paths, a steady walk, it is lonely. There does not seem anyone else on this road to help... but the rails keep him on the journey and focused to his destination. He carries the one thing that he knows within himself, his music; it is his soul and release throughout his life."
