Other professionals

Social workers, occupational therapists and mental health nurses all fulfil key roles in the mental health service system, and work closely with General Practitioners, psychiatrists and psychologists in the delivery of mental health services to an individual. All are university qualified and may have undertaken special units in mental health. Depending on where, within the health system, an individual seeks out help, a social worker or an occupational therapist may be the first point of contact for mental health problems.
