Come on down to Botany Pool and join Black Dog Institute Ambassadors Libby Trickett, Brendan Capell and Ky Hurst as they swim 100x 100’s to help raise awareness about the importance of regular exercise for your mood. You can join them and swim 100 x 100’s or 100 x 50’s or 20’s, whatever your fitness level we’d love to see you there for a fun day in the pool!

David Inkster and Phil Hay are trekking to Base Camp at Mount Everest to raise awareness about bipolar disorder and to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute.

It’s on again, the annual Zoo2Zoo Bike Ride which will take place over 15th - 17th October 2010 and promises to be bigger and better with three rides happening over the same weekend, all finishing at Dubbo Zoo. Travelling through country NSW and over the Blue Mountains, taking in some majestic scenery the ride draws riders from all walks of life together to raise awareness about depression and the work of the Black Dog Institute as well as raising vital funds to help destigmatise depression in rural areas. Gary Burgess will run approximately 450+kilometres (solo) from the north coast (Penguin) of Tasmania to the south coast (Cockle Creek) of Tasmania utilizing walking trails where possible.

Before I turn 50!
Ruth Nissim, a Black Dog Institute volunteer, was diagnosed with depression many years ago and has decided to trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal during November 2010. In Ruth’s words “Having depression has taught me to set myself attainable goals and personal challenges, therefore, my next challenge, before I turn 50 in January 2011, is to trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal during November 2010.”
On the 6th March 2011 Kristen Mallinson will start her Dare to Dream challenge. Kristen is planning to run 907 km in 20 days starting in her home town of Sydney and finishing in Maitland to raise awareness about bipolar disorder. Kristen hopes to raise $50,000 for the Black Dog Institute.
