UNSW School of Psychiatry is seeking volunteers for a research study involving brain stimulation to measure neuroplasticity

UNSW School of Psychiatry is seeking volunteers for a research study involving brain stimulation to measure neural plasticity, the brain’s ability to change or to adapt to injury or other environmental factors. We hope to learn whether this ability to change is impaired when someone is depressed, and whether recovery from depression is accompanied by a return to normal levels of brain 'plasticity'. Both depressed people and those who are healthy with no history of depression are sought for this study.

Volunteers must be:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Right-handed
  • A non-smoker
  • Without electronic implant
  • Without musculoskeletal disorder
  • Without significant neurological illness, including epilepsy
  • Without exccessive alcohol use or illicit drug use

Volunteers will attend the study at the Black Dog Institute in Randwick for the testing session. Volunteers will be paid $50 for each testing session that will last for approximately 2.5 hours.
