Professor Henry Brodaty AO MB BS MD DSc FRACP FRANZCP is Scientia Professor of Ageing and Mental Health, University of New South Wales; Consultant Psychogeriatrician, Aged Care Psychiatry and Head of the Memory Disorders Clinic, Prince of Wales Hospital. He is the Director of the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre (Assessment and Better Care) and Co-Director of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing at UNSW.
Professor Brodaty’s research focuses on diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of depression in late life, depression as risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, depression as complication of dementia, depression and burden in carers of people with dementia, use of psychotropic medications in nursing homes and the difference between apathy and depression. Depression is underdiagnosed and often not well treated. His research aims to improve diagnosis, prevention and treatment and to benefit older people and their families.
